Patient-Specific Hepatocarcinoma Resection Surgical Planning Model
This is a patient matched model used for surgical planning of resection of hepatocarcinoma. This complex multilayer model was produced using a combination of 3D printing and mold making. The internal anatomy is 3D printed and represents the arteries (red), veins (blue), tumor (orange), and gall bladder (white). A mold of the liver surface was also 3D printed in multiple pieces using PLA. The clear material is poured around the plastic anatomy using a mold-making process. This clear material is flexible and can be cut into if needed. The gall bladder is removable and is attached using embedded magnets. This model is used for both surgeon and patient education and allows for tactile feedback and information on how the tumor can be approached.
